The CO2PACMAN Expert Panel by Unifi was held by the IPV Conference 2025 in Florence

In the scope of the Integrated Photovoltaic Conference https://lnkd.in/deAXak-8 , on November 26th 2025, PACMAN Unifi partners organized an expert panel to discuss the capability of different land uses in nature and agriculture to integrate renewable energy generation through PVs.

The Integrated Photovoltaic Conference organized by ETA-Florence Renewable Energies https://lnkd.in/enGkUDH4 in the scope of the SEAMLESS-PV EU project https://www.seamlesspv.eu/ jointed 150 international experts and researchers and industries from different fields and countries all around the world.

For CO2PACMAN this was a relevant moment for dissemination and further discussing with experts from Unifi and other attendees (PhDs from Polimi, DIDA and Experts from ETA-Florence) the work in progress for the formulation of landscape scenarios and design prototyping. Positive feedbacks were gained by colleagues from Unifi BIO.

Leonardo Dapporto for example affirmed that butterflies could find comfort in the shading of PV modules during summer heatwaves, while Daniele Viciani affirmed that grasslands with PVs array for sure presents more biodiversity than a wheat field. Of course more research is required, local contexts and micro-climates make difference. Maurizio Cocchi, expert agronomist in biomass from ETA-Florence was opening some insight to the future challenge to integrate primary biomass crops with agrivoltaic systems, mentioning how in another EU project, MIDAS https://lnkd.in/ebiWT8x2, there is evidence of high species diversity in biomass crops for energy fuels. We thank the IPV scientific committee and the chair Francesco Frontini for hosting CO2PACMAN, relevant spillover effects and exchange within other relevant EU funded project came true. This is the future!
