CO2 PACMAN Impact Forum named “Co-Designing Pathways to Climate Neutrality: From Island Experience to Broader Change” was successfully held in Athens on 21-22 May 2026. For two days the event gathered representatives of the Mediterranean countries in order to exchange knowledge about the possibilities for implementing climate-neutral territories in the future.
The CO2 PACMAN Impact Forum was hosted by Divani Acropolis Hotel in Greece where the representatives of various institutions, regional and local administrations, organizations involved in research activities, non-profit groups, innovation networks, and youth communities came to discuss possible solutions for achieving the transition to green energy among the Mediterranean islands and coast areas.
As an important milestone in the project’s implementation, the event was organized by Interreg Euro-MED CO2 PACMAN which has already produced numerous positive results related to the implementation of climate policies and strategies in Crete, Brač, and Elba islands.
Renewable energy usage, sustainable mobility, participatory climate governance, landscape-oriented planning and resilience development were some topics that the participants considered during their discussions in Athens.
During the event, much attention was paid to the combination of climate neutrality ambitions with the preservation of landscapes, cultural heritage, and social inclusion. In addition, digital tools and technologies for immersive visualization of future climate were considered.
Young people played a particularly significant role in the CO2 PACMAN Impact Forum, discussing carbon reduction, the principles of circular economy and sustainable mobility in detail.
