As part of the CO2 PACMAN Youth Think Tank activities in Crete, the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Laboratory (ReSEL) of the Technical University of Crete first visited the Experimental Junior High School and Experimental High School of Rethymno to introduce students to the CO2 PACMAN project, discuss climate neutrality and train them in exploring and using the CO2 PACMAN Tool.Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, students became familiar with the project’s approach and explored how the tool can support the development of ideas and scenarios for a more sustainable and climate-neutral future.
Following this first activity, the students visited the Technical University of Crete in Chania, where they toured the facilities of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and learned more about the role of research and innovation in tackling climate change and supporting low-carbon cities.The students also worked on their own ideas under the theme “The City I Would Like…”, using participatory planning approaches and knowledge gained through the CO2 PACMAN activities.
Their proposals will be presented during the participatory workshop “The Island I Would Like”, taking place in Rethymno on 28–29 April 2026, bringing together students, citizens, researchers, local authorities and stakeholders. The initiative highlights the important role of young people in shaping a more inclusive, sustainable and climate-neutral future for Crete.
