"The Island I Would Like” Living Lab in Rethymno, Crete, Greece - April 28-30, 2026 - Interreg Euro-MED

Following the successful Island I Would Like Lab in Elba, Italy, held from March 22 to 24, 2026, the CO2 PACMAN project continues its island-driven climate action journey with the upcoming Lab in Rethymno, Crete, taking place from April 28 to 30, 2026.

The Lab in Elba convened local authorities, researchers, businesses, and community members to collaboratively shape practical pathways toward climate neutrality. Through a mix of participatory workshops and field-based activities, participants explored key challenges and opportunities, defining priority actions across sectors such as energy, mobility, tourism, food systems, and nature-based solutions. These outcomes contributed directly to refining the island’s greenhouse gas assessment and informing its decarbonisation strategy.

Building on these outcomes, the upcoming Island I Would Like Lab in Rethymno, Crete will further strengthen collaboration between project partners and local stakeholders, with a focus on translating research insights and co-created ideas into concrete, locally grounded actions. The Lab will address key sectors for Rethymno’s sustainable transition, including renewable energy and storage, sustainable mobility, waste and water management, food systems, low-carbon activities, and ecosystem-based approaches.

At the core of CO2 PACMAN is community engagement. Through interactive sessions and co-creation workshops, participants will collaborate to develop practical strategies that reduce emissions while strengthening the resilience and sustainability of Rethymno’s economy and environment.
