After the successful Rooting Labs in Brač, Crete, and Elba, the CO2 PACMAN project is proud to launch the next edition of The Island I Would Like Labs with a new three-day workshop on the island of Brač, from October 14 to 16, 2025.
Building on the insights, experiences, and collaborative solutions generated during the first series, this new Lab will strengthen the dialogue between project partners and local stakeholders, with a stronger emphasis on turning research and co-created ideas into concrete actions for decarbonisation.
Rooting Labs are designed as dynamic, hands-on environments, combining knowledge exchange, onsite exploration, and participatory design. In Brač, representatives from public authorities, businesses, academia, and the local community will come together to address the island’s unique challenges and opportunities on the path to climate neutrality.
The workshop will explore key sectors critical to the island’s sustainable transition: renewable energy and storage, sustainable mobility, waste and water management, food systems, low-carbon industries, ecosystem-based approaches, and sustainable tourism. Insights emerging from these sessions will directly inform the update of the island’s greenhouse gas balance and the refinement of its roadmap toward carbon neutrality.
At the heart of CO2 PACMAN lies a commitment to community engagement. Through interactive sessions and co-creation workshops, participants will collectively design tangible strategies that not only cut emissions but also enhance the resilience and sustainability of Brač’s economy and environment.
This living lab represents a significant milestone in the journey toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient Mediterranean.
