CO2 PACMAN Rooting Lab: COoperation and CO-designing PArtnership for CliMAte Neutrality in Split and Brač from 17 – 19 September 2024
As part of the international CO2 PACMAN project, a three-day workshop – CO2 PACMAN Rooting Lab: COoperation and CO-designing PArtnership for CliMAte Neutrality will be held in Split and Brač from September 17 to 19, 2024.
The project financed by the Interreg Euro-MED program brings together 10 partners from Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of providing knowledge and tools to encourage the implementation of integrated strategies and policies for the challenge of climate change mitigation and adaptation. At the three-day workshops, a relevant number of stakeholders from the field of climate change, as well as representatives of local and regional authorities and national policy makers, are expected.

The three-day workshops in Split and on the island of Brač will be held with the aim of cooperation between project partners and local stakeholders in the field of research, data collection, knowledge exchange, as well as finding potential solutions for decarbonization, i.e. reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide, on the Mediterranean islands.

The results of the green and blue EU projects: CO2 PACMAN, CAMPUS and ADRIACLIM will be presented on the first day of Rooting Lab (17th September). Among the project presentation, there will be also organized a panel discussion Split-Dalmatia County – Blue-green community engagement in order to exchange experiences and share knowledge.

A series of presentations and panel discussions with institutional representatives of public bodies and stakeholders in the area (company representatives, the public and other stakeholders) will take place on the second day of Rooting Lab (18th September). The experts are expected to identify the challenges facing the island of Brač in relation to decarbonisation.

The final day of Rooting Lab (19th September) brings Co-design workshop with school principals, professors and high school students is planned, as well as an open innovation workshop: a participatory process with local companies, for example thematic round tables and discussions (led by CEEI.) The CO2 PACMAN project encourages transnational cooperation in order to create a favorable environment for the increase and exchange of knowledge, strengthen the innovation capacity of protected areas, as well as raise citizens’ awareness of the possibilities of transition to a low-carbon economy.
