Envisioning a climate-neutral Crete through youth-led co-design.
Within the framework of the European project CO2 PACMAN, undergraduate students of the Technical University of Crete participated in the interactive workshop “The Island I Would Like”, held on May 13 and 19, 2025. Guided by academic experts, students explored how Crete could transition toward climate neutrality through participatory design and applied energy planning.
Working in teams, participants developed integrated decarbonization roadmaps addressing key sectors such as energy, transport, water, waste, tourism, and food systems. The workshop combined scientific tools, local data, and creative thinking, empowering students to propose realistic and locally adapted climate action plans. The initiative highlighted the vital role of youth engagement in shaping inclusive and effective pathways toward a climate-neutral future for Mediterranean islands. Read more:
